Basket Quilts and Baskets

This winter the Stillwater History Museum at the Sheerar is featuring a traveling quilt show from the American Quilt Study Group, “The Study of 19th Century Basket Quilts”. This exhibit will also include a variety of handcrafted baskets from Stillwater residents. Three of the weavers, whose work will be included in the exhibit, are Judy Mahle, Debby Strickland, and Cathy Southwich,   Each was mentored by the late Bernie Kopel.

It Has Been a Terrific Summer at the Sheerar

It has been a terrific summer at the Stillwater History Museum at the Sheerar.  Our visitor numbers remain strong and we have already surpassed 2017 total visitation numbers with over 8,588 center visits.  On our museum level we continue to attract new visitors and are pleased to share that July brought in our 2,000th visitor for 2018 and people keep coming.

Cool Classics are Back

Cool Classics are Back

With of the heat of July setting in, it is time to enjoy the annual Cool Classics series.  This will be the 12th season of this summer tradition bringing cool musical relief to the long summer months when Stillwater’s arts and culture scene is just a little quieter. All concerts within the series take place on July 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. Each concert will start at 7:30 and will be approximately one hour in length. Admission is completely free, but seating will be limited to the first 200 people in attendance.
