The Orange Quartet is comprised of four students, Thomas Neely and Allison Johnston on violin, Hunter Sanchez on viola, and Samantha Kerns on the cello. These students started playing together two years ago at Oklahoma State University. They were looking for outside performance opportunities that would give them great experience and joy out of utilizing their skills for others in the community. They have played at a wide arrange of events that include Oklahoma State University Hall of Fame Alumni banquets, yearly banquets, and weddings. They have provided music as background music or as a focal point of many events. The Orange Quartet not only does quartet music for events, but can play as trio or duets as well if the occasion is in need of a different string ensemble.
On July 14th you will hear Samantha Kerns, Thomas Neely, and guest Nick Dool perform some arrangements of songs they have played in the past, along with some brand new arrangements. For this occasion, they have arranged some pop music for trio and have included a classical piece as well. The Orange Quartet would like to entertain questions about anything the audience may have in mind in between the performance of each individual song.
The July 14th reception is provided by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The museum will also be open late for Preservation50 Exhibit viewing.
The Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History's Cool Classics Summer Concert Series is FREE and hits the stage every Friday night at 7:30 starting on July 7th and running through July 28th. Lasting approximately one hour, the concerts are followed by a reception. There is wine and punch, and with the auditorium’s capacity of 200 being pushed for all four performances, it is wise to arrive early for the first-come, first-serve seating.
